Information Technology Services (ITS)/Office of Server Infrastructure & Operations is recruiting for a Computer Systems Manager M2, to function as a Director, Database Administration, who will: â€¢ Provide systems analysis, design, acquisition, installation, configuration, programming, testing, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting services for the components which make up the production Oracle Database environments. â€¢ Coordinate staff activities; direct staff in the evaluation, selection, installation, and maintenance of hardware, software and consulting services in support of the Agency's Database Server Infrastructure environments; instruct or demonstrate to staff the proper, efficient usage and/or collaborating installation of highly complex servers hosting databases and/or related software in order to increase the overall level of competence; troubleshoot complex problems, and coordinate the repair and maintenance of same. â€¢ Develop technical recommendations for executive management to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the database infrastructure, and the minimization of loss of time and/or resources; make judicious recommendation of appropriate acquisitions and upgrade to ensure the continued viability of the environment. â€¢ Collaborate and work closely with system architects, development leads, Operations teams, PMO and others to come up with solutions and provide day-to-day support to their business needs. The role will also require the candidate to be a hands-on DBA as/when required. â€¢ Work closely with subject matter experts, users, and vendor resources to properly define and document requirements and ensure they are successfully translated into system functionality. â€¢ Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats. â€¢ Enforce Agency policies and regulations for the Office of Server Infrastructure & Operations to meet the Agency's mission and goals.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A master's degree in computer science from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using information technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, planning of data/information processing, user services, or area networks at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as described in "1" above; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or recognized accrediting organization and six years of experience as described in "1" above; or 4. A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or recognized accrediting organization and must possess at least three years of experience as described in "1" above, including the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Qualification Requirements (continued) NOTE: The following types of experience are not acceptable: superficial use of preprogrammed software without complex programming, design, implementation or management of the product; use of word processing packages; use of a hand held calculator; primarily the entering or updating of data in a system; the operation of data processing hardware or consoles.
A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent; preferably a Master’s Degree in the fields of public administration, business management, environmental planning, or a related field.
A minimum of 10 years of full time satisfactory professional experience in the field of environmental health and safety.
Experience overseeing large teams of staff and vendors performing multiple different types of work at a fast pace.
